The U.S. Department of Energy's $300 million State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program ....

The U.S. Department of Energy's $300 million State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program, otherwise known as cash for clunkers for appliances, is set to launch in New Jersey in April 2010!

Where can I find the latest information?
More information and details will be available in the coming months. Go to www.energysavers.gov/rebates for additional information and links to approved state plans. Manufacturers, including Bosch, and retailers, including Sears, are also spreading the word on their Web sites, the way car dealers did last summer. NJ will devise its own list of products, which could include refrigerators, freezers, washers, dishwashers, central and room air conditioners, air-source and geothermal heat pumps, boilers, and oil and gas furnaces. Models will need to be Energy Star qualified, where applicable, to qualify for a rebate.

How much money will I get for a rebate?
Amounts should be about $50 to $250, and can be combined with manufacturer or utility rebates. You will receive the rebate by using mail-in forms.

There is a rebate program available for clothes washers!
For a limited time only, get $75 back from New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program which is different than the DOE’s Energy Efficient Appliance Program, on the purchase of eligible ENERGY STAR qualified clothes washers. Clothes washers eligible for a $75 mail-in rebate have a Modified Energy Factor (MEF) of 2.2 or higher. In addition to having a minimum MEF of 2.2, all select clothes washers must be listed by the EPA as ENERGY STAR qualified.  Make sure the model you purchase has an MEF of 2.2 or higher.http://www.njcleanenergy.com/misc/residential/clothes-washers-rebates.
